Pascal
Hachem is a Senior Researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Law,
University of Basel, Switzerland. He is a graduate from the Faculty of
Law, University of Freiburg i. Br., Germany where he worked for Prof. Dr. Dres. h. C. Peter
Schlechtriem, M.C.L. Since September 2006 he works at the chair of Prof.
Dr.
Ingeborg Schwenzer, LL.M. where he completed his doctorate in 2009 with
a comparative study on penalty and liquidated damges clauses. He
currently serves as Reporter for the CISG Advisory Council on the issue
of how these clauses are dealt with under the CISG.
Pascal Hachem publishes in the fields of the law of obligations,
international trade and comparative law. Since fall 2007 he is Senior
Researcher in the Global Sales Law Project and co-author of the
"Handbook on Sales Law". Since March 2010 he is also post-doctoral
researcher (Habilitand) at the Faculty of Law, Basel and works on a
comparative study on the recovery of expenses made on things which are
subject to restitution.
As lecturer Pascal Hachem teaches "Comparative Private Law" at Masters
level in fall 2010. Besides that he holds tutorials in law of
obligations for first year students. Furthermore, he was coach of the
Basel Team during the 15th and 17th Annual Willem C Vis International
Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. With regard to the 18th Vis Moot
Pascal Hachem teaches CISG at the Vis Moot School held by the
University of Zurich.
Pascal Hachem is a native German speaker who is also fluent in English.
He also has basic knowledge of French and Spanish.
